Templates contain common information that can be reused when adding new users and devices to the system.
After creating a User and Service Template, it should be associated with a user role. When you add a new user, you can then select that role in order to make use of the template data.
Templates and roles are shared. In a network of mixed releases, MiVoice Business (MiVB) Release 7.0 templates are shared only with MiVB 7.0 and up systems. However, Pre-7.0 (MCD 5.x and 6.x) templates are shared with and visible on all nodes (5.x, 6.x, 7.x and up). Once shared, a pre-7.0 template can be modified on a 7.x system (within its limitations, such as, one phone service per use) and still remain compatible with pre-7.0 systems. When a pre-7.0 template is copied on a 7.x system, the new copy becomes a 7.x template and is no longer shared with pre-7.0 systems.
NOTES
Pre-7.0 templates do not include the following fields (introduced with the MiVB Release 7.0): Prime Phone Service, Service Label, Zone Assignment Method, Zone ID, and DID Service Number. In addition, the User element cannot be deleted from a pre-7.0 template.
Only roles associated with the Default or a pre-Release 7.0 template will be shared with the older systems.
As of MiVoice Business Release 7.2, MiVoice Business nodes can SDS share data with a MiCollab server 7.0 or up, in support of the Flow Through Provisioning solution, which allows the administrator to configure and manage users and phone services from a single location - MiCollab is the recommended option. See Adding Users and Services for more information.
When a MiVoice Business node is SDS-sharing data with a MiCollab server, templates that include MiCollab services are displayed in the User and Service Templates form, but they cannot be copied to create a new template or deleted from the ESM. These templates can be managed only through the MiCollab USP application, which you can access automatically by clicking the "Open in MiCollab" link. However, you can modify parts of the template that are controlled by the ESM, such as, phone or user's details.
NOTE: When the last MiCollab server is removed using the REMOVENE command (note that MiVoice Business Release 7.2 supports data sharing with only one MiCollab server), all MiCollab templates will be deleted, while templates that had associated MiCollab services will become editable, that is, you will be able to delete them from ESM.
A User and Service Template can be associated with multiple roles, or with no role.
When the system is first installed, a single User and Service Template named "Default" is created, which consists of one user and one phone service with one embedded Voicemail service. You cannot add or delete a user or phone service and you cannot rename or delete the template; however, you can delete the Voicemail option and you can update the field values for this template.
The User and Service Template (other than Default and pre-Release 7.0 version) can have just a user (no service), just a service (no user), or a user with one to eight services.
Multiple key templates can be
created for the same device, but only one template at a time can be
applied to a device. The desired key template can be chosen when the
User and Service Template is being modified.
Pre-Release 7.0 User and Service Templates must use device-specific
key templates.
Using the Hot Desking User field, you can specify whether the template applies to a regular user and devices or to hot desking users.
Using the Service Level field, you can specify whether the template applies to Full Service, IP Device Only, Multi-Device, or Trusted Service DNs.
You can update the field values, including the name, for an existing template.
The Template Name field is not case sensitive. This means that "Engineer" and "ENGINEER" are identical template names.
Go to the User
and Service Templates form.
From the list of existing templates, select one that you wish to copy (for new installations only Default if available).
NOTE: You cannot copy a template that includes MiCollab service(s).
Click the Copy Template... link.
In the displayed Template Name field, delete the default "New Template" text (or click x to clear the box), then enter the new template's name.
Click Save.
The newly created template is selected and its elements are displayed
in a tree-format in the lower section of the form.
Complete the following steps if you wish to change the template's structure:
To remove the User or a Phone or Voicemail Service: click the element, then click the displayed down arrow (alternatively, right-click the element), then click the Delete command (Delete User or Delete Phone or Delete Voicemail).
To add a Phone Service or Voicemail: click the Add Phone Service or Add Voicemail link, configure the displayed fields as required, then click the Save button.
Click the User, Phone Service or Voicemail element to open and configure or re-configure the required user, service, voice mail or keys information.
You can work on key templates directly from the Keys tab. To use and update the default or any other existing key template, select "Use Existing Key Template" and from the drop-down list, select the required template. To create a new template for a device, select "Create New Key Template", enter the new template's name, then click Save.
Once the key template is selected, you can change the key programming as required. Select the desired Key Assignment element displayed in the lower section of the form by clicking the appropriate Button Number (or the arrow in front of it) to display all programmable fields.
NOTES
To program a hot desk user, select the "Hot Desking User" check box and specify "Full Service" as the Service Level, and then select a Preferred Device. To program a hot desk set, clear the "Hot Desking User" check box and select "IP Device Only" as the Service Level.
To program a regular user and device, clear the "Hot Desking User" check box and select "Full Service" as the Service Level, and then select a Device Type.
Multiple key templates can be created for the same device, but only one template at a time can be applied to a device. Pre-Release 7.0 User and Service Templates must use device-specific key templates.
In the MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later, unsupported devices are listed under the Unsupported Devices section within the drop-down list. The system allows you to create a template using an unsupported device and allows you to attach this template to a user role. However, the Device Type drop-down list defaults to No Device when adding a new user and a phone service using a role with an unsupported device.
Click Save to apply changes. Click Cancel at any time before saving to cancel the changes.
Go to User
and Service Templates form.
Select a User and Service Template by clicking the appropriate Name in the User and Service Templates list. Select "Default" if you wish to update the default template.
The selected template's elements are displayed in a tree-format in the lower section of the form.
Click the element that you want to modify. A details dialog appears to the right of the structure tree.
NOTE: For templates that include MiCollab services, you can only modify elements controlled by the ESM, such as, phone or user details.
Modify the necessary field(s).
Click Save.
Complete the following steps if you wish to change the template's structure:
To remove the User or a Phone or Voicemail Service: click the element displayed in the bottom-left tree, then click the displayed down arrow (alternatively, right-click the element), then click the Delete command (Delete User or Delete Phone or Delete Voicemail). Click OK to confirm.
NOTE: You can delete a user or service associated with a MiCollab service. The deletion will be shared to MiCollab, which will delete all MiCollab services from the template. This change will be shared back to MiVoice Business; however, you must refresh your template view to see the change.
To add a Phone Service or Voicemail: click the Add Phone Service or Add Voicemail link, configure the displayed fields as required, then click the Save button.
NOTES
You cannot add a user if one already exists. Templates can have only one user.
For the Default template, you can only add/delete the Voicemail element.
Deleting a phone service also deletes the associated voice mail service (if configured).
You cannot add or delete MiCollab services. These operations can only be performed from the MiCollab interface.
Go to the User
and Service Templates form.
Select a User and Service Template by clicking the appropriate name in the User and Service Templates list.
Click Delete.
Click OK.
NOTE: You cannot delete a template that contains any dependent MiCollab services; such templates can only be deleted using the MiCollab interface.
